Alcione – 50 Anos

Alcione, also known as “The Queen of Samba,” is one of Brazil’s most beloved and influential singers.

With a career spanning over five decades, she has left an indelible mark on Brazilian music, particularly in the genres of samba and MPB (Música Popular Brasileira).

Born in São Luís, Maranhão, Alcione began her musical journey at a young age, inspired by her father, a conductor of a military band. She moved to Rio de Janeiro in the early 1970s, where her unique voice and powerful stage presence quickly captured the hearts of audiences.

Alcione’s discography boasts numerous gold and platinum records, and her music is celebrated for its soulful interpretations and rhythmic complexity. She has released over 30 albums, with hits like “Não Deixe o Samba Morrer,” “Você Me Vira a Cabeça (Me Tira do Sério),” and “Meu Ébano” becoming timeless classics.

Her contributions to music have earned her multiple awards, including the prestigious Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Beyond her musical achievements, Alcione is also known for her advocacy for social causes, including the fight against racism and the promotion of Afro-Brazilian culture.

Join us for an unforgettable evening with Alcione in Cork this September, and experience the magic of Brazil’s Queen of Samba live in concert. Don’t miss this chance to see a legend perform her greatest hits and more!

Singing as they fall.
